Annual Election of Board of Directors & Nominating Committee Members

Nominations are now open for APHON leadership positions with service beginning in August 2017. Candidates for Secretary and Director-at-Large must be prepared to attend two board meetings per year. One board meeting is held at the APHON office in Chicago, IL (expenses paid by APHON), and one meeting is held in conjunction with the annual APHON conference. Candidates for Nominating Committee must be prepared to attend a yearly meeting at the annual conference. Please consider the following leadership opportunities:

Secretary (1 position for a 3-year term)

This individual will review the minutes of the Board meetings and general membership meetings. Specific responsibilities include: facilitating minute taking and review/distribution of minutes at Board and general membership meetings, and submitting reports of Board and membership meetings to the newsletter. Qualifications include 4 years of continuous APHON voting membership, demonstrated leadership experience (within national APHON, local APHON chapter, the former CCPON, ONCC, or other nationally recognized nursing organization), history of consistent meeting attendance and successful work outcomes in previous leadership role, recommendation from an APHON or other nursing leader to whom the candidate has reported, and strong collaboration/relationship-building skills.

Director-at-Large (1 position for a 3-year term)

This individual will assist in managing the general affairs of APHON and participate in policymaking decisions of the board. Specific responsibilities include: Participating in formulating annual goals and objectives of the organization, reviewing the strategic plan for continued organizational development, voting on all policies affecting membership, approving the yearly budget, serving as liaison to committees as assigned by the president, supporting and encouraging growth and development of assigned liaison committee chair(s), submitting reports to the board, and attending board meetings. Qualifications include 2 years of continuous APHON voting membership, demonstrated leadership experience (within national APHON, local APHON chapter, the former CCPON, ONCC, or other nationally recognized nursing organization), history of consistent meeting attendance and successful work outcomes in previous leadership role, recommendation from an APHON or other nursing leader to whom the candidate has reported, and strong collaboration/relationship-building skills.

Nominating Committee (2 positions for a 3-year term)

This individual will prepare the slate of candidates and direct the annual election according to the bylaws. Qualifications include 2 years of continuous APHON voting membership, demonstrated leadership experience (within national APHON, local APHON chapter, the former CCPON, ONCC, COG Nursing, or other nationally recognized nursing organization), history of consistent meeting attendance and successful work outcomes in previous leadership role, recommendation from an APHON or other nursing leader to whom the candidate has reported, and strong collaboration/relationship-building skills.
